I Got The Back to School Blues

March 2, 2009 by Missy

Hey people, guess what? The dreaded week has finally arrived. Everyone is back at school and probably wishing they had another 3 days off. I don’t know why the weekends seem to be getting shorter each time. Plus i’m supposed to be working on a project right now, but I’m waiting for one of my group members to finish tallying up a bunch of stuff, so I decided to blog for a little bit.

I feel like I haven’t been to school in years. All that work experiene and not coming to school has made me go nuts. Now it’s back into doing homework, working on projects, and cramming for tests. Wonderful, eh? The upside to this is that Spring is coming! Hopefully. Everyday’s been a typical Chicago day, with rain and/or showers mixed with sun and clouds. Despite the dreary weather, the cherry blossoms, trees, and flowers are starting to bloom! Hpoefully, the weather will pick up and we’ll have bright, sunny days ahead of us!

Sticking To The Weekend Plan

February 28, 2009 by Missy

Yay, it’s Saturday! The sun is out, birds are chirping plus I just have this nagging feeling it’s going to be a great day. So I have so much planned I can’t figure out what to do first. Of course I have to make my hair, that’s a given, but I have to choose between visiting my aunt’s place or hanging out with my girlfiends.

Peer pressure is such a nag coz whatever decision I make, I always end up the loser. Nway Ma keeps telling me that friends come and go but family will stick with you through thick and thin. It’s not that I don’t agree with this well known fact, but the weekend is just too important to waste on an endless road trip to visit my cousins - who will ignore me anyway - so I guess the mall has just become my new best friend!

Where Did All The Music Go?

February 27, 2009 by Missy

♫ ♪ “When I hit the dance floor, you know Im doin the stanky leg. (do it!) Sauce on my ring (ay) then I rub it ‘cross your head. You an h boom cool chick you can do it too. Jack your feet up in the air and check your Myspace too.

Now you can lean wit it, now you can drop wit it. You can switch to the other leg and you can stop wit it. Now get it, get it (4x) Now hit the booty do, hit the booty do (2x) Now you can get wit it, you can get wit it. (2x)“♫ ♪

That’s right, that’s the new sensation to hit the airwaves - “:Do The Stanky Legg” brought to us by the Dallas-based G-Spot Boyz - just check them up on YouTube. It’s a dance craze that is spreading faster than an Australian bush fire, plus kids love it too (me included)! The dance move which can be simply described as trying to wake up your leg from a coma is slowly becoming a phenomenon.

Admittedly, the beats from the song are soooo addictive, you can’t help but nod your head to the hypnotic rhythm, but clearly from the lyrics above, it makes absolutely no sense! I mean “Booty do”, really? Our music artists are getting more creative while at the same time slowly degrading what Mozart started off centuries ago…but still “The Stanky Legg” is one wicked tune :-)

The True Definition of Beauty

February 26, 2009 by Missy
Venus and Serena

I have been following the story of Venus and Serena Williams for ages now, ever since these two curvaceous sisters took the tennis world by storm! Over the years they have literally managed to stay on top of world rankings through hard work and determination. Despite the numerous injuries and dissapointments, Venus still managed to win the singles title in the Dubai tournament recently.

However, while their accomplishments are well known the world over, i was extremely dissapointed when the sisters failed to make the cut in the recently published Top 10 Most Beautiful Women in the tennis world. The women who were posted on the official Web site of the 2009 Australian Open were all white, thin and gangly in my opinion :-) and not even close to matching the assets that these sisters possess.

Just imagine that you are the most dominant person in your sport in the world, but you consistently have to defend having your curves to the numerous tennis critics and pundits. Listening to commentators who persistently speculate and scrutinize Serena about her weight and fitness is like having the butt and boobs of the infamous Hottentot Venus debated for public consumption….what’s your take on this?

Musings From a Teenage Girl

by Missy

Well, with prompting from Aunt Betty, the Girl Talk Blog is now up running. The only problem that I can conceve is keeping it updated…I guess that all relies on me ~shrugs~. Anywhos…things are going good at school…not much to say…the high school dance is on the 2nd…I think we’re all looking forward to all the show and tell that preceeds such events.

But otherwise…what I feel right now is a pretty happy feeling ~shrugshrug~ Blah…I confused myself again..I really should stop doing that…~coughs~ anywho…Religion seating assignments were given out today…and it went by height…so myself, being reidiculously short managed to get a seat front and center…I wish I could’ve sat by Andrea…but she had these huge stilts on (okay…so they were big shoes) that raised her height about 2 inches…so now shes a row over and a desk behind me…ah well, its the way it goes…~yawns~ well…not much else to say…I might add more later…lol, see yaall!
